MKII MIN Battery Compatibility & Specifications

MKII MIN Battery Information & Compatibility

Why the MIN Uses a Specific Battery Size

The MKII MIN was developed in response to customers who wanted a significantly thinner housing.

Reducing overall thickness reduces available internal battery depth. That is a physical constraint, not a proprietary restriction.

To achieve the slimmer profile while maintaining safe lithium operation, the MIN housing is designed around a compact 1S lithium cell that fits within a defined size envelope.

If your priority is maximum battery size and internal expansion, the MKII MAX housing is designed for that purpose.

MIN = slim profile
MAX = maximum internal space

Battery Size Requirements

For the iflash uDual and quad, additional flexibility exists.

If you trim or modify certain iFlash adapters (for example, a UDual), you can create additional internal clearance. This  will allow the use of a slightly larger battery than the standard 3mm depth. The housing does not electronically restrict battery size — only physical space does.

iflash quad

 Look for a battery size of: ≤ 3 mm thick x 50 mm x 68 mm

Note: It may be possible to squeeze a 4mm thick battery in with an iflash quad.  The only concern is if it presses on the glass and not the rear housing, it could push your rear glass out over time.  You could use some permanent adhesive as a solution. Above shows our battery installed with an iflash quad.

When searching, good starting points include: 304860 LiPo or 304050 LiPo.

iflash uDual

the iflash uDual can be cut and there is a dotted line to do so to reduce its size. If you cut the uDual iflash along the dotted line, you can fit a thicker battery, however the length of the battery must be smaller.  I would recommend a max size of 5 x 45 x 50mm.

The best option for a cut uDual is a drop in battery. I have found an ipod specific battery with the ipod battery connection that does not require soldering.  It is labeled as 504045, 3.7v and 2000 mah.  It will sit above the uDual when cut as shown in blue below.

Always verify actual dimensions before purchasing, as part numbers can vary slightly by supplier.

Can I Use My Own Battery?

In summary, Yes you can.

Any compatible 3.7V protected lithium cell that fits within the size limits can be used. Look for a battery that is equipped with proper protection circuitry (overcharge / over-discharge / short protection)

You will need to solder the battery leads to the MKII board, and solder bridge a connection on our board if using a two wire battery. This is a straightforward connection and does not require micro-soldering or board modification.

The MIN is not locked to a single supplier.

What “Proprietary Battery” Means Here

The battery used in the MIN is custom-sized to fit the thinner housing.

It is not proprietary in the ecosystem sense.

It uses

  • Standard lithium chemistry
  • Standard protection circuitry
  • Standard 2-wire power delivery with a thermister

Because of this, replacement batteries can be sourced from standard electronics suppliers as long as size and voltage requirements are met.

The device remains serviceable and user-repairable.

Choosing Between MIN and MAX

The MIN housing prioritizes:

  • Reduced thickness
  • Clean industrial design
  • Improved pocketability

The MAX housing prioritizes:

  • Larger battery options
  • Maximum internal expansion
  • Taptic and experimental layouts

Both are fully serviceable platforms.
