USB-C (Charge Only) + Bluetooth + 3.5mm AudioiPod 5–7th Gen MKII Electronics PCB
Overview
The iPod 5–7th Gen MKII Electronics PCB is a custom internal board designed specifically for Boxy Pixel MKII MAX and MKII MIN housings.
It adds to your iPod:
- USB-C charging (charge only)
- Integrated Bluetooth audio
- 3.5mm headphone jack with TRRS support
- Dual battery connector options
This board works with iPod motherboard, but will NOT fit Apple OEM housings.
It will NOT fit previous-generation Boxy Pixel housings.
It is designed exclusively for our current MKII MAX and MKII MIN builds.

Compatible with:
- iPod Classic 5th Generation (Video)
- iPod Classic 5.5 Generation (Enhanced)
- iPod Classic 6th Generation
- iPod Classic 7th Generation
Fits:
- Boxy Pixel MKII MAX Housings
- Boxy Pixel MKII MIN Housings
Not compatible with:
- Apple OEM housings
- Earlier Boxy Pixel housing generations
USB-C Charging (Charge Only)
The board includes a USB-C port for charging.
- Works with standard USB-C cables
- Works with conventional chargers
- Works with higher-wattage fast chargers
The device will charge at its designed rate. It does not support fast-charge protocols.
USB-C data transfer is not enabled by default.
Optional Data Pads (Advanced Mod)
Solder pads for D+ and D- are available if you wish to add USB-C data functionality.
This requires micro soldering to the iPod 30-pin connector.
We do not provide support for this advanced modification.
Bluetooth Specifications
This board includes an integrated KCX Bluetooth emitter module.

Profile: A2DP
Codec: SBC
Supports wireless audio transmission to compatible Bluetooth headphones and speakers.
3.5mm Headphone Jack
Includes a 3.5mm audio jack with TRRS support.
Compatible with:
- Standard headphones
- TRRS headsets (3 rings on your headphones)
Wired audio remains available regardless of Bluetooth use.
Dual Battery Connector Options
This PCB provides two battery connector options:
- Standard iPod battery connector
- Slim battery connector designed for our upcoming custom battery
- Bonus: solder points for soldering a battery
You can choose either option depending on your build configuration.
Taptic Engine Support
Solder pads are included for adding a taptic engine in the future.
Additional wiring and installation work will be required.
Installation Notes
Difficulty Level: Intermediate to Advanced
Installation requires full iPod disassembly and proper routing of included flex cables.
No soldering is required for standard charging and Bluetooth functionality.

Note
- The power level indicator on your iPod will not function properly. I am looking at ways to have a level indictor on the rear as a possible upgrade. No ETA on this.
