0.0 Before You Begin

0.1 Materials Needed

  • Taptic Engine — iPhone X or smaller
  • MKII MAX rear housing; MKII MIN will not fit
  • Adhesive to mount the Taptic Engine
  • Wire

1.0 Prepare Your Taptic Engine

There are many videos showing how to solder two wires to a Taptic Engine. It takes some patience! Here is a link: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=crWU0Khyanw&t=141s

2.0 Wiring

Once your Taptic Engine has two wires connected, solder the wires to the daughterboard at the locations shown below, marked by the red dots.

You can move the clicker if you do not want the clicking noise. There is no polarity, so wire orientation does not matter.

3.0 Mounting

The Taptic Engine can be mounted inside the rear housing on the MAX version.

A recessed pocket is shown below, e blue, for positioning the Taptic Engine. Secure it using glue or strong double-sided tape.

Depending on your Taptic Engine, you may need to trim off the small metal mounting ears so it fits properly inside the pocket.

Note: The holes in the pocket are included to help push the Taptic Engine back out if it ever needs to be removed after being glued in place.
