0.0 Before You Begin
0.1 Materials Needed
- iPod Classic donor unit
- External Antenna
- Razor blade
1.0 Initial Testing
Before adding the external antenna, I would suggest testing your Bluetooth range to verify you need it.
2.0 Assembly
In order to use an external antenna, you need to disconnect the internal antenna. (zig zag line on the blue board). One method is to simply cut the Bluetooth board along the dotted line as shown. Then, plug in your external antenna and add Kapton tape to the brass antenna connector to prevent shorting on your rear iPod housing. Note: The image below shows some test parts and where to cut. The switch does not need to be removed.
