ipod Classic (5th-7th Gen) Metal Housing + Buttons Kit

This custom-made metal housing kit replaces your old iPod housings from the 5th to 7th generation. It gives your iPod new life by showcasing the original electronics which features USB-C charging and Bluetooth so you can charge it and connect wirelessly to bluetooth speakers. 

Our metal housings are made for modding and serviceability in mind, with plenty of space in our housings and disassembles easily with 4 included fasteners.

• Designed around our custom PCB that features Type-C charging and blue tooth
• Includes our custom front and rear inlays with 3M adhesive pre-applied
• Front and rear metal housings attach together with 4 included fasteners, so assembly/disassembly is simple.
• Our electronics have solder points to add a taptic engine modification 
• Room for wireless charge coil (not included)
• Added clearance for battery connector - it's easy to break these, so we made it more accessible
• Our extra thick design fits our PCB and:
  • iflash quad with our 3800 mah battery (iflash sold separately)
  • iflash solo with our 3800 battery (iflash sold separately)
  • OEM slim hard drive with 3800mAh can barely fit if all foam is removed.
    • Charge coil not recommended in this configuration: We have tested the OEM HDD stackup with a Magsafe magnet installed over a period of 72 hours with no loss of data, however, we cannot recommend this configuration

Not Included

• 3800mah Battery (Required!) USA shipping only. Search 405570  3800mah Battery if you are outside the USA. This battery is roughly 4mm thickx55mmx70mm.  If you find another battery that is smaller in size, it should fit. 
• Optional Taptic module (vibration) 
• Hard drive: We recommend swapping your HDD for the iflash quad or iflash solo.  A slim hard drive can fit, however it will be very tight and not recommended.  

Notes

• Tools: You will need a small phillips screw driver and hex drive for assembly
• The bluetooth board will not connect with all headphones.  I have begun to compile a list of headphones that work, see here.
• Image of brass version is out of date.  It will have the same shape as the black and silver versions! I used an older prototype so you could see the color
• If using Generation 6 or 7 electronics, the click wheel will sit slightly inset from the front face of the glass
• If using a "slim" apple hard drive, it will be a very tight fit. We suggest removing foam from the HDD and you may need to carefully un-tape the battery to remove the bump. 
• Type-C is for charge only, not data, no fast charging (Type c to type C cable can now be used).  The 30 pin connector remains unchanged
• Important! We do not have a large enough sample size to know the tolerance of the OEM components such as button heights, etc. Although we think we settled on good dimensions, there is a risk some adjustments may be needed. Be sure to reach out to us so we can help.
